How long after chicks hatch do you start them on chick starter.

My broody left behind some eggs in her box so I brought them in and stuck them incubator and 2 hatched today.. Yay!!

I'd just make it available but I think they don't really need to eat all that much for 24 hours or so.

Here is the fist one that hatched this morning all cute and fluffy!!

Grats on those last two saves. We have had chicks go for the water and feed within an hour after fluffing up in the brooder. Others have just lounged around for up to a day or more after hatching out. Either case is just fine. If' you hit the 4 day mark and they haven't figured things out, then ya need to start "teaching" em the ropes.
