How long can Eggs remain at high temps before their a loss?

Thank you Candace- We have hatched one batch before this but the temp was 101-101.5 . This time it has stayed at 99.5- constant- so I was wondering if that may have had something to do with it- Also, we have had nothing but rain here for almost 10 days so maybe the outside humidity would affect the incubator as well- not too sure- only my second time hatching- but no peeping yet either... :-(

I have the same question. My hatch day was Friday - May 26. I had 6 out of 18 hatch the day before, 1 on hatch day,2 the day after, and 2 died while hatching. I still have 8 eggs in the incubator and it's day 23. I tapped each of them with my fingernail but I didn't hear any chirping at all. I gently shook them but didn't hear any gurgling either. None of them have pipped so far. I candled two of them but didn't see any veins (don't know if I should). They were still mostly dark under the air sac. How long can I leave them in there and will they hatch?
My temps are between 99.5 and 101.5 with a circulating fan. I'm keeping the humidity between 68 & 74%. The temp did get up to 102.4 early Friday morning but I don't know how long it was like that-no more than 4 hours though. Did I cook the remaining eggs?
Thanks for your help!!

you might have done nothing wrong at all and they not hatch, 102.4 is within 'normal' tolerance.

I'd give them 24 more hours?

they might have been too weak too hatch for some other reason.

Thanks for your advice. I was thinking of giving them until day 25 anyway. Hopefully they will still hatch. My brooder has three different aged chicks in it already so what's another age group!

and they hatched?

My dh and I opened one of the eggs this morning. It was rotten. I guess the chick died some time between lockdown and hatching day. The egg really smelled bad so we just threw the rest of them away too. (They actually went into the compost tumbler.) We'll try again in a few weeks so my brooder will be empty when the next batch hatches.

A long time. Keep cooking and have hope- I had a spike of 108 once, and the eggs felt hot...but they hadn't gotten too hot inside, I guess, as I had a good hatch.

I am glad there is so much information here, thanks for above post. Just woke up to find incubator at 109

Don't know how long it was like this, never got anywhere near this hot in the last week (about 2 days of testing). Still air homemade incubator. First timer. I'll candle at 5 days and see if I have life....
