How long can eggs survive while a hen is off them?

We have two hens in our garage that have been broody for a little over one week. This morning they were both in their own nesting boxes but when we came to check on them around noon they were both laying on the same clutch of eggs. We quickly separated them and got them in the right boxes and blocked them off from each other but i wonder if it is to late for the eggs.

With a power outage, a friend of mines incubator eggs survived 12 hours with no heat. I think she said temp went down to 18C inside before it came back on. Not sure how cold they can withstand, but cold is less bad than heat.

Once they're warmed back up you can candle them with the flashlight of your phone and check for movement inside, you should be able to see at 1 week.

They should be ok as long as the temp in your garage isn’t too cold. I get broodies switching nests a lot on the first week, as long as it wasn’t more than a couple of hours they turn out fine.
