We gave our broody hen 12 fertile eggs and this morning found one chick hatched perfectly on schedule on day 21. I'm worried the mama hen wont show the one chick to the food or water while she's waiting on the other eggs to hatch? I've read that the chick should be okay for 3 days with out food or water?
How long should I let her wait for the other eggs to hatch before giving up on them?
We have some store bought chicks inside that around 4 days old, should I put the new chick with them? Or can we sneak the store chicks under the hen in a few days if her eggs don't hatch?
This is our first hatching in years and years and I don't remember much of how it went the last time.
