How long do real Christmas trees last??

To have the tree last as long as possible, the trunk end should have a fresh cut. If you bought the tree already cut, then cut another inch off to have a fresh cut in the water bowl. Add a teaspoon of bleach to the water and keep the water filled-----the bleach kills bacteria, and it's the bacteria that creates the slime that blocks the capillary action that sucks up the water. You can also add green food coloring to the water to help maintain the illusion of life.

P.S. You can keep the tree until the fourth of July, then when you touch it with a match, it goes up in a flame reviling any fireworks you could buy.

I may have kept mine up too long after the 1st last year and I didn't saw off anymore inches but I should have...for that fresh cut and suction part...I swept A LOT of needles trying to get it out last year and yeah, I wrapped it in a blanket but I was by myself and impatient and did a poor job wrapping cuz well, the blanket came undone going through the 1st door way and I had to get through 3 door ways...tee hee.

Oh well...all is well that ends well.


I threw it to the chickens and they hid in it from our owl and laid eggs under it once it got nicer...after it was good and brown I dragged it to the burn pile and it helped the fire get going for sure...much appreciated...cuz i hate when my burn pile wants to fuss with me and not burn hot and flaming like it should.
