I allowed my banty RIR to hatch three chicks. Now I'm giving the chicks to a family who want to start their own little flock and hand-raise the chicks. The chicks go today at age 6 days.

Typically how long will it be before she starts laying eggs again?

Do I need to be aware of any other hen behaviors that may prevent a return to egg laying (such as trying to go broody again) to make up for losing her chicks?

Well, she may stress for awhile, but should go back to egg laying in 2-5 weeks. (They usually start again 3-6 weeks after hatching eggs.)
