I remember when gas was nineteen cents a gallon, and they washed your windshield, checked your tires and oil. And they treated you nice too. Then they gave you a free frosted drinking glass.
And to boot, they gave you a raffle ticket on a Cadillac. Every month, the Blakely gas company would raffle off a new Cadillac. I remember my mother praying that we would win a 1959 Cadillac. Some of God's greatest blessings are unanswered prayers.
She collected up those frosted glass tumblers, but I never knew anyone that actually drank out of those darn things.
By the way, gas is $2.16 down at the corner.
