I now have 7 as of last week. Our Rottweiler had 6 puppies. We are keeping all of them too. For many reasons…but they are just so cute! I have been saying she is 2, but she was 2 when we first started talking about breeding her. Now she is 3.

Alot of hounds and hunting dogs are a handful, lots of those breeds are breed to be more independent. I've always wanted a cur dog, I couldn't do 2 hunting dogs though my basset hound is frustrating enough

I dont have a black mouth cur but i have a retriever and when she wants to hunt and sniff everything its hard.

Luckily mom is fabulous!! We didn’t have to train her to be good with the ducks or chickens, she just is. We had rescued some baby kittens that were just dropped off. They still had blood on them and umbilical cord still attached. Anyway, if they cried, she cried. And she would be insistent on seeing them. Once she seen they were ok, she would stop and go about her day. The chicks and the ducks have been the same way. Since we will have all 6 from the time they are little, we plan on working with them as soon as they can regulate their own body temp and can get around easier. It will really be a matter of teaching them not to chase them and to leave them alone. Im hoping too that since mom ignores them, they will too. They stay in the coop/run area so that will be beneficial. I would love for one day that they can be free range but right now, a hawk would just fly over and would get them too easy. We are working on adding more coverage, just have to wait for it to grow.

But thank you! My husband is a dog whisperer and really any animal. I don’t know how many times someone has said to be careful, that their dog doesn’t like anyone and then end up following him around and loving him. He will help me

Aaawwww!!! Now I know I’m not the only crazy one! Honestly though, if she had too many we would have to sell a few. Believe me, not something I wanted to do. The guy we paid for the stud service didn’t get it. He was trying to help us get every penny out of the puppies and no matter how many times we told him that it wasn’t about money or making money. It was more about letting her be a mommy. We don’t want them to go to a home where they are going to be over breed. Someone I know wanted one but she breeds her one dog every year and I’m just not ok with that. And we tell people that IF we sell ANY it will be at least $1,500. Which really isn’t bad for the breed and what we have seen but with it being close to Christmas/Valentines Day when they could leave mommy, we want someone to be serious and it not be a cute buy. We have a lot of feeling and heart into these puppies. They are like my babies.
