How many birds are in your current flock?

I have 5 older pullets / hens plus 12 chicks of varying ages 2 - 4 months so 17. I also have 7 eggs in the incubator and 17 under the silkies. Unfortunately the eggs in the incubator look like they are not fertile (well only 2) need to have a better look tonight. Worries me that the ones under the broodies aren't fertile either

I started at Christmas with 3 :lau

3 at Christmas to next minute 17 plus incubating! I love it! Keep us updated if they hatch. Fingers crossed they do.

Yes, yard roo's. They were my extra un-wanted roo's. They live in my yard, and roost on top of my flocks pen at night.

Thats an idea. So I have chicks at the moment and I suspect 2 are roos. We decided to keep them all and see how they go behavior and aggression then I was going to give the ones that fit away or sell them.

I was trying to give my 4 yard roo's away for free even, but there were no taker's. Roo's are hard to re-home.

We have produce places that take them for free and sell them for $3 to $5. I have looked we can have roosters I just dont want too many.

You are lucky then. Here in the US, we have to go through the USDA to do something like that. I already have 3 roosters in my freezer that I had to butcher.
