How many chickens can a 50 lb bag of food feed in a month?

12 large fowl will eat about 100 lbs. per month so if bantams eat on average 1/2 as much, I guess 12 bantams would eat 50lbs. Can't wait to find out, as I'm getting some Columbian Rock bantams in May. Someone with bantams will be able to tell you for sure.

I have 6 Red Stars and they go through about a 50 lb bag in a month to a month in a half - depends on what else I give them daily. They free range a few hours a day as well as get fresh veggies and scraps.

Hope this helps you.

We have 14 adult bantams and 50lbs lasts us a month during the winter. But they also free range 100% of the time and I ONLY feed that much in the winter.

For the summer, they just may be on their own LOL. Plenty of goodies to eat around here.

so im new here with the chicken thing and i wondering if a 50 pound bag would last a month with 15 chickens.
i have 6 now and they barely eat half a bag a month
my chickens free feed so they eat what they want

Depending age, quality of feed, and forage....

Say 50 pounds could last me bit over a week on 10 layers and 20 growing birds.

That might even be a low estimate. It depends on forage, feed quality and age of birds. If say over 10 weeks age and good forage then sure, just under 2 weeks in above equation. I feed a 20 percent all flock type feed (turkey finisher).
