How many chickens can fit in a 150 foot run with a large coop?

I am considering adding to my flock because I seem to be obsessed with my precious chickens. I have a run with an area of 150 feet squared. And my coop is about 3 by 5 feet for the chickens to sleep and roost in. But the real questions is do I need to expand my run/coop or will I be fine adding 1-4 more chickens to my existing run and coop?

Hi, welcome to BYC!
I've learned since hanging out here on the forum that to prevent behavior problems, hens need about 4 sq ft per bird in the coop and 10 in the run. So while your run seems plenty large, your coop is about adequate for the hens you now have.

4 more I think would be okay. The coup house might need some more occasional cleaning tho.

Hmm. Maybe my math is faulty. Does the 15 sq ft of the coop include the enclosed nesting area at the rear? And do they sleep in there?

About 3/6 hens sleep in the coop at night. Many prefer to sleep on top of the whole coop. But yes the nesting boxes and roosting bars are towards the back of the coop

You guys, NO lol. I think the math is way off on this. First, the coop is IN the 150sq ft run so you have to subtract that from the run.

I’m assuming the entire prefab coop and run is 3x5. So the area that is enclosed from the elements is TINY ...like not really enough for the birds you already have....

Correct me if I’m wrong about how you are measuring.
