How many chickens can you have in USA before you have to register with government body ?

In the UK its 50 birds but if you want to you can register with less
I'm just up to 50 with my chicks and even though I might sell them in two weeks I think I'd like to register. They inform you of any disease outbreaks etc

There is no federal law in the US on this. Some states have laws that require registration. Others do not.

Oh of course I'm forgetting you can have different laws in different states
