Oh boy!
After culling I am down 16, thank goodness those roosters were killing me!
I have 25 grown.
16 hens and 9 roos.
2 Buff Orpington
3 Red Stars
1 SeaBright Hen
1 Cochin Bantams
And the rest of the hens are a mix flock from my girls and main Roo.
And about About 11 new chicks that hatched yesterday and still hatching.
11 ducks
4 ducklings
3 Gunieas(and eggs in the bator)
100 quail and new babies too
I have chickens for the enjoyment I get out of watching them, their eggs and meat.
They are addicting and the numbers will never been set. There is always hatching, buying and selling, culling. You can never have enough chickens they serve to many purposes!

I have 14 chickens, and 4 quail. The majority of my chickens are rescue birds. I love birds and decided last year I needed chickens. I refer to their home as a chicken sanctuary. I do not eat them or sell them. They are my pets and here to just live their life. I acquired most of them thru people who did not want them and wanted to be rid of them. I also saved 2 from a not so desirable living situation. I give them shelter, food, water, and most importantly love. I have an all rooster flock and a separate room with his hens flock. I collect the eggs from the girls when they lay but if they don't lay I don't stress over that. I always had chickens as a kid but I never got to fully call own my own. I would grow attached and they would either be sold or eaten. I've never been able to eat a yard chicken that's my own. I've learned so much about them in this short year of having them. I've learned their behavior and what they are capable of learning and doing. I have successfully trained them to know their calls and to stay in my yard only even thought I don't have fencing. They are free range and I watch over them the majority of the day. My quail were just an interest of mine and I have 3 that are almost 3 years old and one that is 6 years old. I do not eat them or have a desire to. I eat their eggs as well or I boil them and feed them to the hens for protein.

Did i mention Turkeys? We have wild Turkeys here, and they interest us. So when i was at that swap i bought a bunch of poults. And i got a great DEAL on turkey eggs so i bought 29 of them. 28 are developing. Oh yes, and i got another dozen CCL eggs because i need another bloodline. 11 out of 12 of those are developing.
And that brings us to another question. How many Chicken Coops do you have? Again , the answer to the question is Not Enough.
While my husband was on vacation in July of last year ,i stayed home to tend the animals. To keep myself busy, i built an 8x10 chicken coop divided into 2 parts so i could have 2 breeds of chickens. It also features 2 runs and a skylight. I got guineas in July, and chicks in August.
Once the guineas grew up , they needed a coop of their own so i built a hoop coop. By the way, if you are interested in my coop builds you can follow them on my thread Helpful Hints for Building Coops. Lots of photos.
How many coops do i have now? As always, the answer is....Not Enough. Do you see a pattern here? I do have a chicken tractor which i put the chickens in while i was working on the first coop which took Forever because i was working mostly by myself. As you can See, i need More coops. I do have 3 small quail condos, but you guessed it, i Need more.
Luckily i like building stuff. I have 2 bunny hutches nearly ready to sell at the swap on Saturday. Oh, did i forget to mention Bunnies?

Hi Hope! How many coops do you have? Let me guess, Not Enough?!
I am going to need to build another big coop soon, and a hoop coop for the turkeys!

I have 13 grown chickens in my main flocks, 5 chicks, 7 extra cockerels that need to be rehomed, and 3 Cornish cross that need processing. If we're talking all poultry, I also have two turkeys, 5 quail, 7 ducks and another rooster who thinks he's a duck and lives with the ducks, plus another roo who lives with the goats.

I have two chicken coops, a turkey pen, quail pen, duck pen, and duck tractor. And yes, I need more coops.

I use chickens for eggs, meat, and because I like chickens. Ducks for eggs and eventually meat. Turkeys for meat eventually. I do not like turkey eggs. Quail are just cute. I have eaten their eggs, but have no plans of using them for meat.

I built a lean-to on the goat barn to move bunnies into but i need to close it in with welded wire so it will be safe from varmints. And it will not stop raining.

So... is that enough or do you want more birds?
