I got 3 eggs from 3 chickens....a question, the white egg layer has big eggs the other two chickens have small brown eggs, why small??
Egg size is primarily dictated by age and breed. They usually start quite small and after a few months get a decent size(for the breed) and sometimes get bigger after each molt.I got 3 eggs from 3 chickens....a question, the white egg layer has big eggs the other two chickens have small brown eggs, why small??
Ouch! I've only had a barred rock lay a double-yolker once, and that nearly killed her. RIP Pipsqueak *dog killed her and 8 others*I got 5/8 but one was so big it nearly killed my hen. Here's the pictures:
This is the egg next to a jumbo laid by my RSL.
This is the egg that was inside it. Yup, an egg in an egg.
I didn't get a good picture of what was inside the egg, but it had two yokes. I scrambled them up and it made a huge snack for the girls.

On a happier note: 6/10 today 3 took a break and the welsummer won't lay.
