How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

3 out of 5 so far, but still hoping our australorp will lay.

Looks like it will be 2 from 3 hens today unless there is another one when I go out later tonight to check on them one last time.
One rooster has a bit of dark area on the top points of his comb, not sure if that is frostbite or not. No one else has any thing like it and some of them have big combs as well. I am going to try to catch him after lights out and put some Vaseline on his comb just in case. May try to go ahead and do the rest of the chickens with bigger combs just to be safe.

I got 8/12 yesterday but, so far, today I have only gotten 3 and 1 of those was frozen and cracked. Got to -10 last night, coop door is frozen shut and I couldn't get it open. Luckily, at the back of the camper, there is a wooden drop-down door and I was able to get it off and crawl into the coop that way. Colder than blue blazes (whatever that means) here but all 12 and roo were still moving around! I've been worried about them all night. Even put my pitbull's sheepskin coat on him to go out to pee. Probably froze as soon as it hit the ground!!! LOL

Was - 4 degrees inside the chicken coop this morning! But I still got 3 eggs from 3 hens today. Last night I put vasoline on the rooster's comb ( he wasn't too happy with me) and 1 of the hen's comb, I couldn't catch and keep a hold of the 2nd hen with a large comb. The 3rd hen has a smaller comb.
this morning all of the combs look good. The rooster and 1 large comb hen just have a small black spot on the tip of one spike. The rooster's comb is looking much better than it did yesterday. Not sure if I'm suppose to repeat the vasoline treatment every day while it is so bitter cold or not. I'm going to try to find the answer on BYC.
