How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

No idea. Maybe it's an instinctive thing to keep the eggs warmer? More hens trafficking in and out of the box laying on the eggs? It's funny that you say that because as of a couple days ago mine have dropped down to using just two boxes (they have 10).

On topic I track my eggs since I free range in the latter part of the day and want to catch if they start laying out in the field.

12-30-14 = 13 eggs
1-1-15 = 13 eggs
1-2-15 = 14 eggs
1-3-15 = 15 eggs
1-4-15 = 17 eggs
1-5-15 = 17 eggs
1-6-15 = 17 eggs
1-7-15 = 14 eggs
1-8-15 = 16 eggs

Out of 45 hens (all hatched in April and May of '14).

I don't supplement light, what they get is what they get. The egg number prior to 1-3-15 were pretty consistent at 11 to 13 a day with an occasional 14 thrown in. Not sure if the eggs are increasing because the days are slowly getting longer each day or if it is because I started giving them an oil of oregano supplement a few days ago.

...Live in Long Branch NJ..winter here and my chickens have laid 8 eggs this week....Anyone can tell me if this is normal?  They stopped a few months ago..They are in the chicken coop I made for them..water and feed as normal but no heat at all - just the enclosed upstair part etc..
Yes completely normal! Mine stop as well, gives them a nice break. Some people use light in their coops but I dont. So that's an option if you want.
