How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

6 eggs from 50 of the girls! 10 are just starting to lay! And 10 are either silkies, Frizzles or English hens.. And 1 broody! It's been cold and windy here!

Keep in mind I just suffered a horrendous attack on my coop this past Sunday that resulted in the loss of one of my meager flock of 10 (9 hens 1 roo) and the injury to 2 others that seem to be healing... I've not seen an egg in weeks and this is what I find this evening as I'm putting them up... Mazy be something should of gotten at them a month ago lol...

So sorry for your loss. Glad the survivors are healing now.

Can you increase their protein a little? I increased mine and went from 12-16 eggs to over 30 in a short period of time.

X 2, our birds are 10 months old and it seems like they do better with higher protein feed.

I got 5 out of 7 hens. One hen died yesterday. We started with 10 hens and lost 2 to illness (we do not give antibiotics). It's hard when you lose an animal. With the new pallet fence run I built, we have not lost any to predators.

Yeah.. I've just left the store with 50lb bags of feed, scratch grains, cracked corn and oyster shells... Time to get them mixed up and such... Going after a head of cabbage to split and hang after my kid gets home from school.

We will be building a privacy fence around our yard and a better wire (hardware cloth) for the new run and coop... A lot of building in the next few weeks....

Is the cabbage a treat? Sorry...we are only in our second year of raising chickens ;) Any input is greatly appreciated!!!
