How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Theae ladies have been producing 4 or 5 a day and I have five laying and five hens total.

Someone's holding out on me today, though. 2

Surprise,Surprise, Surprise....(think Gomer Pyle).....I wade out to the coop this morning to see if my girls had turned into ducks and they had a surprise for me! The Red Comet (Lala) and White Leghorn (Chunk) were hanging out on their ladder in the M.A.S.H. tent, the floor of the tent apparently developed a river running thru it yesterday during our 24 hrs straight rain/sleet storm. So my best friend and I grabbed some rakes and started to repair the dirt floor and refasten some of the tent material that had blown loose. The nesting box (rubbermaid tote) looked like it had "floated" over a couple of feet, when I moved the tote to reposition it back where it belonged look what I found!

Woo Hoo!!!!!! So by this evidence Chunk has been laying for about a week, and Lala started back 2 days ago! We haven't even been checking the tent for eggs! So if I count their 1 day contribution , today we are at %100 production! 9 eggs from 9 hens! All four Red Comets and all five leghorns laid an egg in the last 24 hours! Woo Hoo!!!!

Not bad considering the cold and wet lousy weather we've been having! To be on the safe side I've already boiled those eggs and will mash them up in their salad greens tomorrow.

I'm dumbfounded by my haul today... Either my 2 lost hens came back or two of my ladies decided to give me eggs 2 days in a row... I am leaning to the hens working double time... Ghost eggs are creepy :lau

9/7 in two days..

Oh my word! He does look like Scout! Scout will be 4 months old on Saturday. No, no birthday cake - he'd just manage to find a way to burn himself on the candles or choke on the frosting. <sigh>

8/10 today. Gonna be hard to type that without adding the +Scout.

Doesn't he? It's twin day! We culled ours at 6 months, and it was hard to do because he was drop dead gorgeous, Scout is going to be Mr. Handsome! Don't worry the hens will be swooning, babying him, and helping him out of all of his mishaps!

Oh Scout:

And you should keep typing +Scout!

We're to use to it for you to stop now!

I grew up with my dads parents (Nana and Papa) owning a working horse far... Once I had a place of my own I made the choice to raise my kids with the same love for home grow things... We are prepping our ground in the next few weeks for our veggie garden and my daughter (7) has asked to plant a row for herself...

. She said she wants to grow a 'bean soup' mix like in a book she read lol... I'll let her do it and she will have her home grown soup...
That is awesome! You are doing good, not very many kids know where their food comes from! Your's will know, and appreciate good wholesome homegrown food!

9 brown
5 blue
3 white
1 Lulu (tiny pink banty egg)

My 2 Easter Bar pullets are squatting for the rooster, and walking around checking out the nesting boxes and squawking pitifully! I think we will be seeing 2 more blue pullet eggs shortly.
