Why are they considered "extra"? Do you have a set number that are committed to buyers? What happens to the other 10,000 that you get tomorrow?

And, I thought an average of 2-3 dozen in the fridge at any given time was a lot. HAH!

Yes those are what was left over after fulfilling orders. We also donate 5-10 dozen a week to the church foodbank. I have friends and family that make donations too cover the feed costs of those hens. The church loves the eggs! The rest go to auction because i wont sell eggs over a week old to my customers. They usually get $2.50 to 4.50 at auction.

Yay! I can finally join this thread! We got our first 3 eggs yesterday out of 9 layers. Only one so far today but hoping for 1-2 more since two layed so late yesterday.

Been getting a pretty consistent 6/8 eggs this week, with a break yesterday: only got 3. But, I'm not complaining. I have enough to feed myself ... anything else is eggstra.

I usually get 2 a day from my 2 girls, but Ruby has been broody for a couple of weeks. She finally got back off the nest, so things should get back to normal. They were both busy following the cat around and scratching in the yard again yesterday so I hoping for 2 eggs today.
