How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

This is what I found in one of the nest boxes this morning. It was buried deep in pine shavings and straw and I was more than a little surprised to even find it while digging around for eggs.
I had one last week! It's a "fart egg"! There are other names too, but I thought that was funny! I posted a pic to ask. We got a pretty good laugh.

I got woken up by my chicken's egg song this morning, thought it was particularly loud. This jumbo egg is why! Also interesting to see that the texture of the shell is quite wrinkly.

I had a 17 year old make an interesting observation.
Since it is practically all yolk, that was almost a double yolk in a full-sized shell.
It came out of a pen of adult birds but it was suggested that it could be a First egg. After thinking about it, I am inclined to agree with the kid.
Either way, it is too dang cute. Could you imagine the speck of fluff that would hatch from that.
Thumbnail sized at 1 week.

Chookas it looks like that shell was a really REALLY thin one!

I'm waiting for everyone to gawk at the egg first and then I'll crack it open to see! Maybe it's a double yolk, haven't had any of them since my chickens were younger.

The control group is separated from the roosters of other breeds so the girls are by them selves in the barn safely locked up with fans to move the air around feed is available all day and water and now the timer keeps the light on 15 hours a day and yes they get sun light during the day time so they seem to produce eggs more regularly then the free range chickens and the eggs are not being taken by the crows but the best part is the hens are available for breeding and there is little worry of inter breeding from Molten Hondas and the EE's to the RO's or RIR's ............

Two chicks hatched today both EE's .... Soon I hope to be working on the Marans for breeding
