I candled some of the eggs in the incubator and out of 28 eggs I only had to toss 2 of them due to lack of development and 2 more were doing a little wiggle thing and it is only day 18 for them

Yikes! That's a lot of orders! I'm guessing though you have quite a bit more chickens than I do!

I just have 22 hens, only 15 known active layers due to molting. Weird thing is we only wanted 2-4 for our family eggs consumption but friends keep on finding out how we take care and feed our chickens so orders keep coming. Irony, we have coworkers that sell eggs 1.50 cheaper than ours, ours runs from $3.50-4/ doz to discourage orders.

Quote: I listed mine at 3.50$ (I really didn't know where to start with it), but I have a waiting customer who came to check out my setup. She said she'd pay 5$ for each dozen she gets (and she brought them a watermelon for treats)! She wants 2 dozen every other week :) That's going to really help out with feed/bedding costs for me! I only took on 3 clients because I only have 10 pullets right now, I plan to add in 3 more come spring (I'm trying to weigh pros and cons on day old versus started pullets). I really love the eggs myself, and I bake quite a bit so I can really go through some eggs!

We have 10 layers and 22 pullets that are coming online slowly but surely. Getting 6 a day from the layers and the pullet pen is giving 4 a day. We did have a 12 egg day last week. Size between the 2 pens range from 33 gram first eggs to 73 gram whoppers from the layer pen. There is quite a bit of color, nothing blue or green yet but we put together dozens of a variety of sizes and shapes which most people seem to be delighted with.
At $4 a dozen we are starting to develop a small but loyal clientele of health conscious, animal loving folks who have waited for months for this to start up.
Our goal with the birds we have now is 2 dozen a day which will just about cover requests for eggs as well as our consumption.

I sold all my hens, only the 5-month old pullets and Emma, who is 7 years old, are left. They don't count.

(I can't wait for spring!)
chicken math is a debilitating disiease.... sadly my coop\run don't limit me as my coop is the recommended RUN size for how many chickens I have now!!!! It used to have close to 100 chickens in it!
the run is about 100 by 75 ish feet long......

12+5/15 (found a hidden nest with the 12. 2 of which were broken/cracked) plan on float testing the tomorrow. How do I do that again?
5 eggs in the nest boxes this morning from the big girls with who knows how many more being layed in hidden nests who knows where. Have a feeling I'm getting many more eggs than I thought just not where they're supposed to be laying. Going to have to lock them up here soon to see just exactly how many.
And I got one from my little girls today and I saw her lay it, my bantam barred cochin, at least it was her today(that makes 4 eggs in 5 days from my littles)

Yay! Now if I can just find and get rid of the other hidden nests :)
