How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

10/22 so far. We did discover why the numbers haven't been better, however. As I was cleaning weeds out of one of the planters along side the house, I found 22 eggs. We have no way of knowing how long they've been laying there. Is there any way to determine which eggs are good and how many are likely bad?:he

Have you tried the float test they are talking about? Placing the eggs in a bowl of water, if it floats it's bad and if it sinks good egg?

Lol Daethan that may be a welcome sight lol I gave away three dozen and four days later we're a dozen more than we had(have over a dozen hard boiled in the fridge and probably about 8 dozen uncooked) and yesterday I filled out last egg carton. Only to get our first full dozen day today. What am I gunna do? Lol obviously the girls are laying enough we can start selling eggs. Also the eggs have gotten much bigger in size.

Now I don't feel so bad, the hidden nest I found along the side of the house only had 5 eggs in it! I float tested them. While none were off the bottom several of them only had one end on the bottom. I only kept the 1 egg that laid flat on the bottom, the chickens got to enjoy the rest! I'm glad I did it that way as at least 2 looked extra thick (1 looked like maybe it had tried to start?) and 2 were extra runny!

Lol I think most of us have been there. We have found two hiden nests since our girls started and it is now a daily routine to go back to those places and look. The first one we found 8 eggs and they all were fed back to the chickens the second one we found a full dozen which barbeque sauce fell out of the cupboard and smashed half lol the rest for the chickens. Lol the next day we found three more eggs in the larger nest they will also be going to the birds. Well I should say just one is that I may have missed the first go around. I have a feeling there is at least one more hidden nest since we have never gotten 15 eggs from our original girls(now one is a bantam and I don't think she's laying) but there are still suspicions. Lol

We tried the "float test" on all the eggs we found in the planter and they all sank completely to the bottom. My wife still won't eat them, so I guess I know what I'm going to have for breakfast for the next week. :idunno

Actually, we got 11 today, not 10. I gathered the last one later in the afternoon and put it in my jacket pocket (before I went to weed the planters). Guess what I found in my jacket pocket this evening? :barnie I"ll give you a hint: it was smashed and gooey. Doh! My loving wife offered to wash my jacket for me after I (kinda) enptied my pocket.
