Been -20 or so with wind chills for a couple days now. The flocks all got moved into the large "cooler" they used previously for getting fluffy show cattle so its very insulated. So they are more comfortable if bored. Can't wait for a break in the weather.
Today is day two in the "cooler" aka temporary coop for the birds and not a bad egg count today. Today I think we got 8-9 which is a pretty good haul considering except for vents and when we go in for chores and bed checks they're not getting supplemental heat or light. They do however hate the new roosts and all 30 of them have been sleeping in little piles on the floor (which I wouldn't think unusual for the 6 silkies) perhaps it's just easier to keep warm that way?
Yesterday was a 5 egg day.
