How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

You have some absolutely gorgeous chicks

I am trying with my BCM's but they are only 14 months old right now and I would like to wait till they are 18 months old before matting them as I believe the chicks are much healthier from older chickens as I have gotten mail order eggs and found out people are selling eggs from chickens entirely to young and have no reason to be selling eggs from chickens that are entirely way too young oh sorry I am taking my madness where I should only be writing happy thoughts

I would like to see some more photos of your baby's as they grow

Hi Gander,
Thanks, I think the chicks are really nice looking too. Unfortunately, none of them are mine! I was incubating some of my eggs and some eggs for a friend. As it turned out none of mine hatched, so all 6 of those chicks belong to my friend. She came & picked them up Easter Sunday.
I did eggtopsies on my 4 eggs that had made it to lock down. 2 of them had full sized chicks that just did not hatch. 1 looked like it had internally pipped but then stopped, the other one didn't even do that. I had 1 other egg that looked like it had quit early like around day 6 or 7. So I know that the rooster(s) have started doing there job. I still need to eggtopsy my friends 7 eggs that never hatched & see what I can learn from them.
10 eggs is a great egg count for you.
Was the Easter winner of the goose egg excited?

The hens laid 17 eggs, but I only got 12 of them. I have an egg eater or 2 in the midst. 4 eggs were eaten from 1 coop alone! Not too happy with that. I think I may have to put the trail cam inside the coop so I can see if it is just 1 culprit or more than 1. I kind of think that they ( or she) developed a taste for them from the soft shell eggs that were being laid & then broken.

My dog likes chicken feed, and opps I left the run open...

No really my hound dog loves chicken feed and chicken treats. Drives me nuts. But when ever I fill the feed she is right on my heels inspecting the feed and cleaning up any (she) spills.

As for the coop, everyone is ok. I went out back for a minute and the flock block (or part of it) was on my porch. Apparently when I checked to make sure the girls were in for the night I forgot to close the run. So my chicken feed loving hound dog went in and stole the block. Given its about 1/4 of its full size, but she had it broken into at least 5 different pieces across my yard. Darn dog...

I just could not decide what photos to put up as there were so many and I did not want to put up a photo album but I just had to put these up as he was so happy and I am still recovering from the trip and loading up these new photos of the grandkids is so wonderful

I picked up my 5 hens, who were born last August, on Monday and have gotten 2 eggs..I assunme because they were already ready to pop. I know a move will disrupt their goings on but for how long normally? I'm brand new to this but it feels like I'm waiting for a baby to arrive hehe

It doesn't always interrupt them. When I moved mine I started getting eggs right away.

7/13 so far today. I went to the coop and found one of my girls dead in the run. No visible signs, no blood. Not sure what to think.

okay well that's good to know. I hope to come home to at least one eggy after work!

Oh no how horrible! I hope the rest are okay! I hate when you can't tell what happened :( I woke up to my 10 month old kitten passed out at my bedroom door when I woke up in the morning a few weeks ago. Still don't feel right about it. Hope all goes well for you :/
