How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Feeling heart broken.... This morning I had 12 eggs ready to hatch under momma hen.... About 30 mins ago I go out to collect eggs and find an egg that at first I thought was zipping but the poor thing looks like it was almost crushed. Still alive but doubtful of the outcome... And only 5 eggs under hen... I've lost 6 eggs in less than a few hours. It sounds like a snake attack on my nest. The surviving eggs and poor chick are now in my incubator for final hatch. I'm probably not putting them back until they get bigger

Geez I am so sorry hard to protect from snakes, we only have a few garter snake's
here and seem to stay in the grasses I guess..

Thanks. They would of hatched today or tomorrow as well. Just makes it harder.

The remaining 5 and the chick that had the crushed shell are in the incubator for safety.

The one from the crushed shell just lays there but will move and cheep when I lift the lid. It still has some yoke unabsorbed so I'll just wait and pray. The rest have pipped internally and all seen active. I look to have babies by Tuesday. I won't know if I'll slip them back to momma until then. I fear that thief returning and killing the babies.
My brooder is still set up with 6 3 week olds that are waiting until the new coop is ready to go out so I'll partition it off to add the new babies if I keep them inside.

Collected 7 eggs despite the snake raid. Also... The chick with the crushed shell is still alive. I will know more in the morning.
