How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

5 of 6

All but my Welsummer cross have started laying, and we are getting 5 most days!

That top left EE sure does lay a beautiful egg. :)

8 of 11 today.

Sitting on the back porch with my hound dog watching her while the chickens are out. I think this is only the second time I've let her out with the chickens with out the leash. She's still interested in them but she's doing really well. I don't do it as much as I should but it's a work in progress. I actually watched a finch get with in about 3 feet of her early today and she didn't move other then to watch it pass. She's trying to get close enough right now to sniff one but they keep running away and she's not chasing then so that's really good.

Yeah it's taken a long time. Last year when we first got the chickens she got after them twice, but she was only a year and they are feathered balls with legs. The first time she accidentally opened the coop and the second time she dug a hole under the gate, not big enough for her to get in but big enough for them to get out. The first few times I brought her out on a leash with them she would shake like crazy. It's not that I ever even planned to let them roam together but if there were an emergency (or another chicken escape) it would be nice to know I wouldn't have to worry. But we are still a ways from there. It's a work in progress but ib wasn't a ranch and it would be nice to not have to build separate runs for both her and the chickens.
