How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

7 of 11 today. Ended September with 211 total. It seems so crazy. First month I've ever totaled. Oct 15 will be the completion of my first full year having chickens (to bad I dont have that count)

Well, We got 5 today from our 6 laying age hens. Or maybe not. We have 11 pullets at 7+ weeks, but surely not able to lay yet. The reason I say it this way is that we got a surprise today in the next box. The upper 4 are our 'Regular' hens eggs, and if you count that two of the 6 older hens are caring for the little ones still, that makes 4 for 4. Not sure if this is a "back to work" starter egg from a hen that hasn't been laying for a while, or one of the morning doves that like to wriggle through the aviary netting looking for a free meal. Though it is probably from the latter, it was an interesting find today.

That's crazy and the color is so close to that of the others. I would like to say I swore one of my girls (a younger one) had started laying around 20w but with the summer heat she and my older green layer both stopped. Note I won't point all the inconsistencies out but there were a lot of things going on like i never had 2green eggs in the same day and I never saw this one lay. Anyways so early September I got my first 4 green eggs (the 5th older green layer now molting) so I knew this young girl was back to laying but as I inspected the eggs more over a few days I realized she was laying small eggs, when before the summer heat I thought she was laying large eggs. So, besides the fact that maybe I was wrong about her laying in the first place (but that would leave 1 hen laying twice her average) I have not been able to confirm or deny if a chicken will revert to laying small eggs after and extended period of rest, but if that's possible then perhaps tool know soon. Hope you find the culprit.

No small eggs this morning, but 5 of 6 hens did leave us nuggets of joy.

9 eggs today. We were gone all day and they all laid nicely in the nesting boxes, none cracked or on floor. I'm proud of them

I did ours for Sept also, got 109!! Pretty great for our first month of laying♡

We ran into town saw this new movie out Mrs. peregrine and her peculiar children
it was really quite different but we enjoyed ourselves cam home to feed 6 hungry dogs
stopped in here before heading to the chickens
