Karen darn good to see back so the daughter is home for good?
did not study chickens so good you added that ... he as in nifty-chicken let us
know if we had a golden feather membership we could go the new site give a good nod or thumbs down and to let others know where it had gone

My daughter plans on only being home for the Summer and then going back to Ohio for the school year. Not sure how that is going to happen. she didn't do so well in college this 1st year. GPA = 1.47. She needs at least a 1.5 to be able to get any scholarship $ or financial aid. Don't know if she takes Summer classes & does well, if that will re-activate her ability to get Financial Aid or not. Going out of state is really expensive, so even with F.A., I don't think she will be able to attend out of state. Guess she'll cross that bridge when she gets there.

but never did not work for it went out to close the birds in did you know we have three coops now also 18 count day 24 birds

I got 3 eggs so far today out of 5 pullets that are laying age. This is so exciting!

17/20 Eggs Today

but never did not work for it went out to close the birds in did you know we have three coops now also 18 count day 24 birds

I'm like you, I paid my way through college and never had to go in debt. I did get some grants and scholarships, but had to pay the rest. Didn't "go away" to college, just moved out of state at 18 and then went to college a few years later and continued to work full time while I was attending classes.

I also have 3 coops and 24 layers! I only got 17 eggs today and unfortunately, 1 of my roosters disappeared. . It was my only Black Penedesenca rooster. He and his 4 ladies were out free ranging. When I went to close up their coop, only the 4 ladies had returned. He has always returned with them before. I looked all around and in the woods as best I could (it was getting dark & it was hard to see in the woods, even with my flashlight). I'll look around again tomorrow. I am pretty sure he is gone/dead, but I would like to try to figure out what got him. I have 6 eggs fertilized by him from the 1 Black Penedesenca hen I have. I am going to put them in the incubator tonight.

I get to add 1 more so 13 of the 24 but like 5 not old enough.. Gee hope the rooster comes home maybe he went for drink with the boys oh sorry but had to say it... darn wish we lived closer we would have a blast.. now that Blue aka Stew has been sold at auction almost wish I had him back everything from him gives me green eggs...
