How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I am sorry need to figure what failed there I have so many birds molting others that have not started I did get 5 from silky land they hid them from BF he is 72 today :wee

I have 7 hens(RIR) that are all laying very well. For the first time ever, I got 9 eggs yesterday. I thought a hen lays about every 23 hours. I put them up at dusk the night before, got 6 eggs that day and none were in the nest when I put them to bed. Has anyone ever gotten more than one egg per hen per day?
All are individuals and "every 23 hours" would mean every hen would lay more than 365 eggs a year. Mine mostly run for several days, always later in the day than the day prior, then take a day off. I can only imagine that the "egg released every 'x' hours claim is more likely true for commercial egg farms where the hens always get 14 hours of light every day.

I've had a few run for 30 plus days before a day off though that is usually early in their laying lives. And I've had 2 in one day, early and late, though I don't recall it happening the day after that hen last laid. Most likely one was released "off schedule" after another was in the pipeline.

22 Eggs Today, missing Don Quixote’s crows in the last couple of days, the only chicken that I ever given a name, he was part of my very first hatched of 9 eggs and turned out to be a rooster. He fathered 56 Black Copper Marans chicks since March 2018 but got to let him go to a long vacation after his beautiful 16 months of his life.

So sorry @PouleChick rotten hatch numbers had that with the first marans hatch
I feel so bad but it is why I have a EE to go to auction I bought it just to keep my
lone marans company in that first hatch

Oh Poule, that is awful! Now you have a lone chick?
Thanks Bruce and Penny - yep - just gutted - I only paid for 12 and he gave me extra as was worried about the fertility (with good reason clearly!!) as one of his CL roos had died - I'm thinking the other must be shooting blanks! One broody is happy as she has her 1 chick (but how sad for the chick being an only child :hit I'm now trying to find a chick or 2 to buy - my local garden / feed store can order me some day olds for Monday but with a minimum of 5 and the only choice is red or NNs (which I just hate the look of - sorry for those that love them!). No idea what to do - poor Doris still sat waiting for a baby to come out but I'm now just hitting day 23 so think there is no hope. I need to order by Friday latest. Going to try a few more places in a different town tomorrow to see if I have any more luck. Online no good either, too late in the year I'm guessing. Really upset. The breeder (only cream legbar breeder anywhere near here) is lovely though and I'm sure he'll offer me free eggs for the spring so not so worried about the money side of things.

feed store here has fall chicks in looked but selling extra birds here do not need to compound them buying any .... know there is 6 in the main coop brought 5 of them in ... cleaned Silky coop so brought in 3 from them

So sorry to hear about your poor hatch rate! I wouldn't give up yet, but I would by day 25 or 26. Sometimes the temps run a little cooler than we think and that delays hatch.
Do any of your neighbors want chicks? Maybe you could order the 5 and share the extra chicks with them? Or maybe they have some chicks and yo can borrow or buy 1 or 2 to go with your lone chick.
I am glad to hear that the lone chick is being raised by a broody hen. At least it will learn how to be a chicken and operate within a flock from the start!
