I got my first egg today after 37.5 weeks of waiting from one of my english lavender orpingtons!!! Her 3 lavender sisters and one lavender cuckoo sister have yet to lay...sigh. I figured either my two cinnamon queens or 6 speckled Sussex, all 19.5 weeks, would beat the lavenders but they squeaked it out in the end! The lavenders are beautiful but very slow to lay.

)! We had a hot soup (which I needed i was so cold!), then the entrée (which is the starter here in Europe not the main
) which is always a buffet of cold meats, pates, salads, boiled eggs etc. Then for main we had the 'plat du jour' which was soooo good - duck breast, roasted endives (not that keen on them but ate them anyway as I was a good girl!), and the most incredible pomme dauphinoise (lots of cream and garlic!). This was all served with unlimited refills of gorgeous crusty bread. Wonderful meal but really needed the nanny nap as never usually drink any wine in the day or eat that much at any time
