How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

@PouleChick Yes, I pretty much do it like in the video. I don't usually hold the chicken though, but that wouldn't be a bad idea though. Sometimes they flap a lot near the end and I have had them break a wing or tear a wing up flapping against the tree. Other times the hang there peacefully. :idunno
7 eggs for me today. Still have some ice on our long driveway, had to give it 2 tries and a running start to be able to get the car up the driveway today. Most of the snow is all gone though and it looks like they took it out of the forecast for this coming Thursday.

At the extravaganza this past weekend, I got to try out a longarm sewing machine! It was awesome!
Only problem is that it costs $10,000, and that was on sale and without the quilting frame. Needless to say, I did not purchase one.

Ya they are only like 80,000 here but still do not have one either nice old little green machine 21A viking husqvarna even picked up a necci from the 50's not too bad either but free arm not long arm

Lost a pullet yesterday :( No obvious cause, no external marks, seemed a healthy weight, no crop issues and was fine in the morning. The ones that died under similar conditions in the past that I have done necropsies on had fatty liver disease so I'm going to ASSUME that was the case here.

I don't want to lose any of my girls but if one has to go, why can't it be one of the four 6.5 Y/O hens instead of the 9 month old Barnevelder???? She was a replacement last April for a roo that came mis-sexed the prior April.
Awwww sorry for your loss. On the bright side you can get some new girls!
will put it on tree but think the culprit has met his match with the lock on the gate
Would have been interesting to leave the locks until you had him on camera!

See that is why I liked the idea of the cone - thinking calmer and no flapping!

Eeek! Hope you had a lovely time.
nice old little green machine 21A viking husqvarna
I have a Husqvarna too - I love her - had her about 8 years and never missed a beat!

I got 10 yesterday - was so exciting!!! :celebrate:celebrate:celebrateFirst time in double figures!

My green machine is the last one made in Switzerland I love it treat it with care snowed here this morning BF went to the main coop brought in 5 nice eggs

Not winding down but I started with 12 in 2012, had some unknown or predator losses, got more in 2015 same scenario, more in 2017, same scenario and again in 2018. I figure there will be losses but I don't need to get even MORE girls! As it is I'm drowning in eggs from Feb through until fall.

On this camp no winding down. My wife and I were driving to a friends house for dinner after work and she said “I’m glad we don’t have to deal with chicks this year, we have enough new layers”. I said what are you talking about? you don’t even take care of chicks or chickens? “All the dusts in the garage when we have new chicks” she said. I didn’t say anything else, :duclittle that she know I placed 15 eggs in an incubator @friends house and planning to put 7 in our mini incubator next week. :D

29 Eggs Today:celebrate

Well, @Spartan22 , it's a good thing she loves you!

I think I got 8 eggs today. Not really sure as I am a bit frazzled here. Got a phone call around 3 from my son's GF. She told me that he had a seizure at the table. She had already called an ambulance because he wasn't coming around very well. She had also called her step Mom who lives nearby. I could hear her in the back ground trying to get him to respond.
I live 3 hours away and still had a student that was staying until 4, plus my husband goes in for surgery tomorrow at 2:30 ( blasting kidney stones). So, I was feeling pretty helpless. The GOOD news is that by the time the ambulance got there and they were ready to take him to the hospital, he was responsive and answering questions.
He had been on seizure medicine in the past, but his doctor took him off a few months ago because he hasn't been having seizures and a side effect is memory problems. He already has permanent short term memory loss from a TBI, so he didn't want to make it worse.
The hospital put him back on a seizure medicine and sent him back home. ( He had also just gotten off of an antibiotic because of a tick or spider bite on his leg, so I am also concerned that that might have had something to do with the seizure).

But, I am super grateful that he seems to be okay!!
