Mine was off for several hours during a severe storm while I was in the storm cellar. When I came out I hooked the bator up to the generator, nothing else just the bator. The generator ran for 2 days keeping those eggs going. Bobwhites were welcomed into the world as planned!I got 16 for yesterday and today, 11 from the pens and 5 from the carriers. Yesterday it rained extremely hard all day with very high winds we lost power and I couldn't make it to the barns. My incubator's temp dropped to 84* degrees Fahrenheit before I could get it warmed up with a blanket to 98.8* degrees![]()
I open my bators daily, candle, rearrange the eggs......Good luck! Depending on what day they are on they could be fine. Remember Broody hens get off the nest often at least once a day and the eggs cool off then too. Some people even mimic that by lifting the incubator lid for a while every day. They call it "hardening off". So don't give up hope yet!
Only 8 eggs for me today.
I have 2 genators but they are stored in the bran until late spring and brought out for hurricane season. I am pulling the small one out this weekend to have it ready for stand by if needed.Mine was off for several hours during a severe storm while I was in the storm cellar. That’s how my last hatch went. Generators for 4 days as we had power outages due to high winds and the fire danger. Generators are ready again for this hatch, due on the 19.I have 2 genators but they are stored in the bran until late spring and brought out for hurricane season.
