How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Today I got a dozen, some days maybe 3. They slow down molting & in winter. It's ok, they deserve a rest.

That’s exactly (eggzactly?) what it is! I have a couple new layers and they are making a big mess in the nests before they lay. I have rubber liners, but I think the wood on the front was the culprit.
Nobody seemed to have eaten any of it though, so maybe it happened on their way out. 🤞🤞
Ten more today and the day is not over yet!
Glad you figured it out. After the first one happened I thought one of them pecked at it. I was relieved to see that wasn't the case. I made sure they always have plenty of straw in their boxes since then. I also lined the boxes with that reflective insulation because the boxes stick out of the coop. The wood on the front is now padded with straw, too.

We get 2-4 per day still but it’s serious winter here in the Hudson valley of New York.
We have 6 Birds. Basically only three have been laying since September but the other day with the first 16” of snow our Americaua laid her first blue egg!! Go figure. I guess they didn’t get the memo. We expected them to stop in November. But we’re not complaining!.🙏🏻❤️ The bird I’m holding tried to sneak by me and hopped into the snow. Sat there for 5 minutes in like an 8” snow drift, and didn’t know what to do! She let me pick her up md was calmer than ever. Was probably freaked out
