How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Yesterday I got 5 eggs from 12 hens. Kinda slow as they were SUPER stressed on Tuesday from an attack by neighbors dogs!! Lost a total of 3 hens and currently have 1 that is still limping but can't see a visible wound. I'm sure that in a week things should be back to normal of getting almost a doz.per day!!
I'm so sorry :hugs

It's amazing how many feathers chickens can lose and not see a wound. We have feathers EVERYWHERE!!! This was the 1 day that we had nice sunny weather (in MN) so I thought I'd open my run for a few hours in the afternoon so my girls could move around more than normal.....didn't think it would be a deathly mistake. At least the neighbor whose dogs attacked them genuinely felt bad and offered to pay for my birds....
It took my 2 and an half hours to fix my run fence, and find and catch my remaining birds. They were so traumatized that they didn't even try to run or fly away from me.....So heart wrenching to see them just stand mesmerized with the shock and stress....

And I would let that neighbor pay for those chickens. The best lessons cost the most. I’m not preaching at you but unfortunately that statement does go both ways. That’s why I let mine out of the run so little. Anything can happen with little or no warning and all we think of is what good we’re doing them by letting them out.

Oh trust me .....I let him pay!!! We had quite the exchange and he was totally fine with paying for damages. He even offered to help me repair things and catch my birds but I knew that that would stress them even more having a stranger trying to grab them. In the past we have only let them out of the run when we have been working outside so we could keep tabs on them...and usually about an hour or so before sunset so they would go back inside easily.
