5/8, we did a lot of work in the backyard today and I think it really threw the girls off.

I forgot to post last night but yesterday we got 17 from our 19 GC's. We get another 11 Gold Comet started pullets next weekend bringing our flock up to 30. Just in time too. I worked on the coop over the weekend and added an egg laying box off to the right side with a hinged lid. I divided the box up into three nest boxes inside for them. They Gals have been laying in this large concrete bowl that Teresa made called a 'Hyperturfa' or something like that. I took that out and replaced the roosting bars which were round 2" dowels with 2"x2" all the way across the inside of the coop. I read somewhere that the square roosts are better for them and they don't have to work as hard to hold on at night. The 19 Gals we have now fit comfortably on half of the coop so opening the other half to them will allow probably up to as many as 35 or so hens. But I think I'll end up building another coop before I add any more than the 30 we'll about to have.
