How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I have one in a heavy moult right now poor thing. I have an insulated Hen House, but still it’s chilly in there - I am below freezing at night now, so I have been closing the door almost shut at night to try to keep it warm for the bald ladies.

Sheesh! What a time to moult!

I've never understood why they molt at the worst time of year. My poor frozen ladies.

They started out good in August and I had a bunch moult then, now I have stragglers it seems - I never see birds in the wild moult like chickens do. It’s just not natural

A few of mine are done, but I have 3 who are full on naked. And one who doesn't look like she's lost a single feather yet.

Poor thing. At least we are above freezing here. Coop door is always shut at night. Run isn't fox proof. I have 1 looking like a hedgehog 2 with feathers half grown and 1 that doesn't look like she's lost a feather.

I had 8 nice eggs waiting for me at 7:30 this morning, so as a reward I hauled a good size wheelbarrow load of leaves into their run. They'll have fun today picking and scratching!

I got 4. Two birds started laying this week. One on Sunday and one Monday. They got their cooped picked up and fresh leaves today to scrounge in.

Just 1 today. Averaging 7 per week from my 8. Grateful to be getting any at all right now!

Another of my pullets started laying and a big surprise it’s a pinkish-brown one. I was expecting blue same as the other pullet.
