How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

4/10. They were picking up, giving me 5 a day...hoping today was a glitch and I'll get 6 tomorrow!

Surprised that, even with the 6 inches of snow that's fallen, so far, the ducks and chickens are still churning out the eggs. Got 2 duck and 2 chicken eggs thus far. Will check again once I lock them in the coop this evening.

Now that it’s turn arctic here I expect my kiddos to slow down - maybe. I only got 9 eggs today, that I could find

It's still a deep freeze here and the heifers, teenagers (pullets) are too dumb to lay in nest box!! Nooooo let's lay in bedding hidden way away under poop boards... where Mom can't see them so once I found them this what I got!! View attachment 3729245

Yes, I date the first and last egg in each carton as they are filled. Helps me keep thing rotated. I pass on extras to family.

I am a good 3 hrs to the border - expensive drive for 4 chicks - oh not that I wouldn’t do it in the past! But now fuel prices are outlandish!!!

I am fortunate that we live quite close to the border here, and that a local farm was making the run - at precisely the time when my broody was sitting on eggs that weren't hatching! Only one hatched and I didn't want it to be a solo chick among the established flock. I have a hen that went through that as she was the only pullet in a brood of 6. 5 cockerels that I culled, leaving her solo. She is still a very insecure hen, but with another bunch of youngsters below her, I'm hoping she'll come around.

I got 2 today! One pullet sized egg & one large one! Being home for a snowday, I was able to hang out for a bit this morning... I notice that my cockerel is following the ladies into the coop. Loud squawks call Pedro the Alpha in to investigate & he squats a little in front of the nest box making a cooing / purring noise. Anybody ever see that? It was like he was guarding, courting & re-assuring his #1 hen as she laid.
