How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Same here!

I found 6 eggs in the boxes at noon today, and all of them were dirty with ????. Chopped up a small winter squash, cabbage leaves and radishes to give the chickens a good dose of prebiotics for their gut health.
My girls won’t touch radishes, even the greens, and will only eat the seeds out of a winter squash. I’d say they are picky, but then I’ve watched them devour a squishy old gourd and its dried blackened leaves that they found in the garden this winter… so I guess they just have strange taste in foods! 😂

3 today, Juin, Août and Mei. I think that funky egg the other day must have been Mei’s as well. Juillet is still just earning her keep by being entertaining and pretty, which is fine with me. Now that she’s stopped laying, she’s back to being playful with the other girls, chasing them around and popping up out of nowhere to upset them. She’s a hoot.

I made pumpkin muffins with one of Juin’s little eggs today and a pumpkin from last summer’s harvest. They were yummy :)

@Winderdear , I think mine will eat young radish greens, but not mature ones. And I don't think they eat much, if any, of the radishes. I'm just throwing the radishes out there for them in hopes they might eventually develop a taste for them. And if they don't, no problem. Whatever they don't eat gets scratched into the woodchips and turns into garden compost.

Mine don't care much for winter squash either, but I see peck marks on the pieces of squash I've thrown to them, so they are eating some of it.

Mine will devour COOKED squash and pumpkin. I’ve started baking all of it, if I cut the skin off I cook it at the same time in a separate container. They love it that way!
