3 again today! We’re trying to get lots of foraging time in today, because the rest of the week should be solid rain.

I’ve been out of town for a few days, but my sister said yesterday we got three Banty eggs from two hens. 1 Golden Comet egg so far today as of right before the eclipse starts.
And a Banty egg from Jade when I went down to put them up at dusk. Still warm.

The weather was finally warm enough to set the luffa out. I had an inquisitive crowd watching when I was planting them in the fabric pots close to the coop. The general idea is to have them climb up the side. We'll see. They're spares though as I have two more for the raised beds. The squash go out tomorrow.

Glad you were able to get out and plant. We must be in a different region. We will be tilling this week. Should have gone and rented a tractor, but my father in law brought this tiller over. So we will do it the hard way.

8 beautiful eggs today! Time got away from me and I didn’t let them free range. Going to be nice tomorrow, so I’ll give them a bit more time.

Good luck with your luffas! My chickens love gourds, though I’ve only grown them the culinary varieties. They will even eat the leaves even after they’ve blackened and dried up post-frost.

Someday I want to make an area on the south side of the chicken run that’s covered in hops vines. It will give them more shade in the summer, plus they can eat the flowers for food and medicinal benefits.
