14/25 today. got 2 eggs from the 10, new 1year olds i picked up on sunday. 6 eggs total so far this week from them. there slowly getting there.

we got 2 out of 5 hens, which is pretty good for our standards (sadly!). they are all older than 3 years and dont lay very much, but we still love 'em. we got some chicks though so they can eventually reinforce the flock!

8/21 today... it was a really hot humid day with some pretty nasty thunderstorms. And still, they did pretty good for being new layers. Tomorrow they'll be 23 weeks!

Yesterday we got 26 from our 30 GC's!!! There were at least 4 of them that have to be double-yolkers based on the size of the eggs. They probably all came from the 11 new started pullets we added in May. We still get a few of smaller eggs, probably mediums, each day but these have been fewer every week. Yesterday we only got 2 of the mediums. But now I'm able to keep up with the demand from my co-workers and friends with at least 2 dozen eggs a day we've been getting. I think we're going to stop here at 30 layers for the time being. If we add any more I'll have to build another coop and even expand the run which I don't have the heart for these days. Too much work and way, way too hot!!!
