How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Out of the four girls, just one teeny tiny egg. Usually its four for four but I guess I cant win all the time!

Well, I don't want to try to push them with extra light because I kind of feel they should keep to the natural rhythm of things. But that's just me. Our Golden Comets are hard working hens and they lay and lay. Last winter we also got great production from our Gals with somewhere around 80-85% eggs each day. I don't think it's so much of what we're doing. I think it's the breed where the GC's and other sex links are just superior layers. We just give them a dry run, a warm coop, and plenty of food and water.

Still nothing this morning, but a good sign finally! The girls have been nesting again. They have gone in the boxes and moved the hay around to make comfy little nests in each one. I haven't even seen them in the nesting boxes in months. So I am excited to say the least. I noticed the first nest being messed with yesterday, and saw two more this morning. So just for kicks, I will check the nesting boxes again this evening and first thing tomorrow.
