11/12 5/6 leghorn, 6/6 red comet. That's the good news! Bad news, lost a red comet today while they were free ranging in the backyard something got her! I'm suspecting one of the feral cats that hangs out in the woods behind our property. We found the hen in the coop when we went to lock them up for the night, not sure if she was attacked in the coop or she escaped to there.

I got 1 egg today. It was my Barred Rock's 1st egg! My other two are freeloading at the moment.

Rain cleared up today and when I went to the boxes there was an even 8 of 8!!! Whoo hoo!!!
Way to go girls!!

Unfortunate that the rain destroyed the coop though. Floor is slowly drying, but all my PDZ that I had on the poop board turned to muck.

8/10 (but these girls are trying to carry the load for the 28 other pullets in the pen! They're 14.5 weeks old--can't wait until they start paying for their feed!)

BTW, I am thoroughly impressed with my 6 Golden Comets--these girls are energetic, steady layers, curious, and super hardy! Not to mention, pretty & fluffy!! I want more of them!!

10 eggs yesterday from 17 hens. One coop has artificial lighting and the other coop does not. I've been getting 7 or 8 eggs from the 9 hens in the coop with artificial light and only 1 or 2 eggs from the 8 hens without artificial light!
