How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

20/31 but 2 are sick so I guess it should be 20/29

We received 5 inches of snow overnight so I'll be curious whether this slows their egg laying. We had a very warm last couple of weeks resulting in a brown December and with that, our four girls have been doing a great job laying. I'm on my way out now to let them out. They're in for a surprise.

I hope they enjoy playing in the snow!

I have a question......if the eggs were laid yesterday and the broody set on them until this morning...are they edible?
Definitely. I have had them cool, and I have had them freshly laid when they are still warm. We clean them off, put them in a container, and put them in the refrigerator until we are ready to use them.

Is there a light in their coop? That might help.

We had a snowy November and I learned then how much hate they have for snow. I even snowblow paths and areas for them and they still hate it. It's funny to watch them after I open the door to the coop. They start to walk down the ramp and as soon as the first hen see's snow, she stops in her tracks, turns around, and pushes the other girls back into the coop. There was one egg waiting for me.
