Sassy was a TSC chick, unsexed and unknown who turned out to be a Black Breasted Red Old English Game Bantam. She was amazing! She was so tiny but had such an attitude. She was on the top of the ladder for quite a while, right up to point of lay. She never laid an egg for us. I would love another but I need to make them their own bantam coop if I do. I can't go through that again, knowing that they neglected her broke my heart. I should have moved her or brought her inside.Sassafrass was an Old English Game hen too? So sorry you lost her, I would be so torn if we lost this little girl. She is the only one who can come into the house occasionally. We have to keep her with us though because we have cats. I would love to get a few more like her, she is so sweet and full of personality. Have you thought about getting another?
I still have not had time to read about Scout, but I will, and from everything I've read it sounds like I'll become a fan too! LOL
She thinks the grass is greener on the ducks side of the coop lol She's precious!20/25/32

THEN.....TA DA.... I found little miss Lulu's secret nesting spot. There were 5 eggs in it! Miss Lulu, can squeeze her fluffy little butt through the fence and go galavanting anytime she pleases. This morning, she was already out and hanging out in front of the ducks side of the hen house. The second I opened the door to let the quackers out, she flew, yes flew inside of their area and into an old wall mounted nesting box that I keep tools in. 5 min later, I saw her sitting in the laying position up there on top of the junk, so I left her alone. Later, after she left I looked and saw 5 eggs! I fixed it up, removed the junk, added bedding and put her eggs back in. I hope she continues to use it because I cannot find any of her other eggs. She has access to to many buildings. She won't lay eggs in the main hen house because she is tiny and gets bullied out of the boxes by the mean girls. I swear, I want to make her a house chicken, but my cats would love that way to much! Lulu is an extra tiny Old English Game hen bantam.
First look into the duck quarters. Do I see eggs???
Closer look..yes I see 5 Lulu eggs! Happy dance!!!!
All cleaned up with added clean pine shedding. I hope she keeps laying eggs here.
SOOOOO pretty, let's have a closer look, shall we???

22/39 today found a new hiding place (luckily I saw her go in there, and there was only the one she layed today, but I will add that one to my many hidden nest locations I scope out daily lol)
OOPS. It happens.19/25/30

I found another of banty miss Lulu's nests today. It had 8 eggs in it, 6 were stinky spoiled and leaking, 2 were fresh looking (I cracked them open). And today, she might have laid one of them. She did not go back to the duck quarters.
The 8 eggs were in a covered litter box with pine shavings that i stuck in the shed. She can get into the shed and use it. I can't believe I forgot about it and missed those eggs!![]()

Well, this girl is a mystery bird (I have no idea what she is but she looks really cool) She is a bantam. She's not as tiny as your girl but she' on the small side. I'm trying to find a pic of her to put on here. I have some hay bales on my back patio and she found a small space just big enough that she could fit her body in there. She was very talkative today so while I was working in the yard I kept a close eye on her to see if she was gonna lay...after she laid I couldn't even see the egg I had to reach my hand in there and feel around for it. Found another bantam egg in the burn barrel ashes today. I have quite a few others who have been secretly stashing eggs, but every time I find the nest they move it!!! Most we found in a secret nest was 26. Wow nice! (not the stinky egg part...those are YUCKY lol) I like the hunt but I want to find them. It's no fun to play hide and seek if you can't find lolLulu IS precious, and sneaky sneaky!!! LOL
Everyday is an Easter egg hunt! Who is your little stinker, and where did you find today's egg?
I just wrote another post at the same time you wrote this one, telling about finding another nest with 8 eggs in it, 6 were smelly bombs......pew.....![]()
