I have my lights on a timer and the extra light is at the end of the day. My girls wander around in the coop for a while then get up on their roosts and hang out until the lights go off. I think their internal clocks get used to the extra light and they know when the "day" is about to end.
I concur....Yes they do roam the coup upon initially coming in @ dark and they eat and drink a bit and always end up on roost before the lights go out. And as far as our rooster goes...he starts crowing before the lights come on some mornings...thankfully not ALL mornings.
