How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

That's not uncommon, especially if not adding light.
Winter solstice was 2 weeks ago, so you may start getting eggs any time.
When the entire flock stops laying, I switch from layer to grower feed. No egg shells means no need for 4% calcium.

Since the first of the year (4 days):
20 from 7 hens (with added light)
18 from 7 hens/pullets (with added light)
10 from 9 pullets (no light)
0 from the other 6 hens/pullets (no light)

4/4 yesterday. However, it was really icy here and when going to fetch the paper down our longish, rather steep driveway, I slipped and landed on my side. Fortunately I only had one egg in the pocket on that side. SPLAT! Dang it, I was so mad at wasting an egg.

I can so relate, now I realized those "precious" eggs are hard to produce, and appreciate so much in comparison to supermarket that we used to waste.

8/14 so far today. Split evenly between 2 nesting boxes. The 2 on the bottom they always used before are being ignored and there are 2 on the top that they are using regularly now.

I want to know where you're located.
This time of year, are you lighting or in the southern hemisphere?

I hope so. My husband said if they weren't laying by christmas he'd eat them for Christmas dinner. I told him that wouldn't be giving them a fair chance and they'll probably start in spring. Our winter days are only 7 hours long and so dark and gloomy so it'll probably take until the days are a bit longer. I had hoped the one who started laying in October would continue over winter, but she went broody in December.

Yes either they need more light, different feed or more calcium. My girls just coming out of molt and it's been dreary here so extra lighting of 1 hour to get them started some. the pullets haven't started yet but I am trying out a solar light rope later this week on my older girls and if ot works I am going to add on to the Cochins and hope for the best.
