How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

He's grumpy. Can't communicate what he wants or even thinks half the time and you can see in his eyes how mad it's making him.
I am very sorry to hear that, I helped care for my
Mom's second husband for 3 years before his passing I do understand

Soft shell sounds like you have a new egg layer

They are relatively new, but I think the real culprit is too many treats. I started bringing the leftover veggie scraps from the school cafeteria and I think they are eating too much of that and not enough of their layer feed, so they aren't getting enough calcium. Plus they aren't eating the oyster shell that is out for them. To test my theory, I did not bring home any scraps for them today. I think I will only bring treats home 1 day a week. Hopefully, that will get them back on track. Today I had 2 soft shell eggs that again seem to have been "laid" while on the roost.

Total eggs for today is 15, including the 2 soft shell eggs.

On another note, I pulled almost all of my eggs that I set for the Easter HAL. I think I have 4 or 5 of my eggs left and almost all of my friends eggs. Of the eggs I pulled almost all of them were clears. There were a few (4 or 5, maybe) that looked like they had quit around day 3. I pulled about 20 eggs. I'm not too surprised though as I wasn't sure the roosters had been doing there jobs yet. Both roosters are under a year old. I'll wait a while (couple of weeks or a month or so) and try again.

well the girls maybe had a bit to many treats I am at 3/5 with 14 barred pullets, 3 easter eggers all to young

I have no experience with soft shelled eggs, but my chickens have been getting only millet and scratch grain all winter with a bit of wheat and the odd banana and tomato.
No balanced diet, no layer, and no oyster shells until yesterday. And that's only because I had to bring the bag in to get it out of the way. They didn't seem very interested in them...lol.
So far the eggs have been hard to break.

I find the differences between everyone's flocks very interesting!!

The girls seem to like the additional nest boxes and new setup and have responded in kind.
Even though they're still mostly using two nest boxes.

Hatched early in the morning

This chick hatch out very early so I will let this chick recover in the incubator for a few days before putting it into the brooder as the older chicks are four weeks old and they most likely will step all over the little guy .
