How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Question??? I have 20 hens and about 12 pullets that are 5 to 6 monthes old. I have 20 nest boxes. Could the older hens be keepibg my pullets out of the boxes to lay?

probably in my view you do not need that many nest boxes unless You intend over 100 birds
you do not say the breeds of your hens or pullets that can make a difference but most
of the pullets could be laying most any time..

Kinda odd My little broody 6 month old br lost her last peep today 3 down 0 to go

The barred rock momma has managed to keep track of the other 5 chicks and I even saw here go after our 2 and 1/2 year old black lab when she chased a couple of the chicks one day.

@karenerwin , I sure hope they are out have some fun and return home soon

Temp a very chilly and windy day only 86F degrees most of the day .

The little month old buff orpington did not manage to show back up

and to top it off one of the 10 week old buff orpington chicks was no where to be found tonight. This one was in a different coop. They just recently started getting some free range time as I just recently put up a cattle panel fence. I had wanted to put up chain link, but my hubby thought that would be too much work. So today before I left to pick up my daughter at the bus station ( she was coming in for her first visit home since leaving for college) I left them out to free range. It was just there 3rd time out. When I got home from the bus station I noticed that they had gone through the fence ( not really surprised) and were out in the woods. When I got back after dark I saw that 1 of the white leghorns had roosted outside the coop. So I went out to get her and put her away. Only half of that flock had gone back in the coop. I caught the white leghorn and heard the rooster raise a rucus. He and 3 or 4 of the other chicks & hens were in a different bush. I got them all caught & put away but was till missing 1 of the buff orps from that coop. I walked around in the woods and around the coop with a flash light for about 45 minutes, but could not locate the missing chicken. I did scare off a cat that did not belong to us. We'll see if this buff orp shows back up tomorrow or not. I guess I'll need to keep them in for a while since I guess I'm providing free chicken dinners to something out there. Probably one of the hawks or owls that live around here.

8 eggs again today. Our high temp was 70 degrees today.

Thank goodness the molting is mostly done!

What a mess of feathers that was!

The young girls look like they're catching on about the laying boxes.
I'm aware that not all the hens are laying in the boxes because I see they've found some places to lay in the barn...lol.

October 4 - 7 eggs
October 5&6 - 20 eggs + 2 new guinea egg

Gander, you are 93F. We are 3C (37.4F) with high winds.

I don't want to be as hot as you are there...but in between our temps would be nice!
We were 75F a few days ago.
