How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

We usually average 6-8, but not all of our hens have decided to get with the program. However, I have a hen who apparently thinks she needs to pick up the slack and lays double yolkers daily. She's NOT a slacker! Lol

not real unusual for young birds still get one every now then younger EE
it will pass as they age enjoy them now

11 eggs today from 33 hens. 2 of my silkies are broody and the other hens are just getting to laying age...every few days I get a new egg color. Here's today's 11.

Oh I love it!! This is what I'm hoping my eggs will look like within the year. My first 8 hens ever! Love it! They should start laying within a month or so

that can be very heartbreaking do you have a lip on the front of your nest boxes
it will stop that from happening

I think Peaches did not get up and go to her nesting box in the night. She laid the egg from the roost. Does this make sense?

I think a lip on nest boxes are irrelevant since, it was laid from the roost while the chicken was sleeping or perching. I've experienced it a lot when my hens just started laying.

16/18 Eggs today. NICE!!! They must like the pumpkin treats the last three days.

7 eggs yesterday and only 5 today. Lost another hen yesterday due to hawk attack. I found her when I got home (after dark). She was in the dog yard and had literally lost her head ( and neck).
