How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

that's a nice combination for your flock. Do you tend to add several each year or how do you that?
My thoughts were every other year as after 2nd year they start slowing down then by time new chicks lay, the others won't. Is this how folks really do it or just how I read? We added 7 in November but 4 were 3 months younger (2 have just started laying). Our max we've had so far is 15 of the 26 total girls

I do add new chick every year and retire the older hens the third year, I'm not sure how others do it, but I prefer to have new layers while the 2 year olds slows down for the first molt and the 3 year olds travelling to Iceland for retirement.

makes sense thank you. This is flocks first winter so I believe we are good still with skipping this year for additions as when we replenish flock, we want to be moved and have our full amt from the start. I like your idea too

Iceland?

1/4 today. Really excited for the new chicks to be added(and to age quickly lol) to get a better daily haul.
